Celebrating our airport workers

On June 26, we proudly celebrated the inaugural Airport Workers Day, a new national initiative led by the Canadian Airports Council (CAC) to acknowledge the vital contributions of airport workers across the country who keep us connected to people and places and maintain our supply chains.

From airport operations, parking, retail, and food and beverage to security and customs and immigration to airlines and ground handlers to cargo and construction, there are more than 26,000 workers at YVR who help connect B.C. to the world and make our journeys possible. Throughout the day, activities were held across Sea Island to recognize and celebrate these workers.

We were also joined by many of our government colleagues, including M.P. Wilson Miao, M.P. Parm Bains and M.P. Bonita Zarrillo as well as MLAs, Aman Singh, Kelly Greene, Henry Yao and Mable Elmore.

Aviation is the ultimate team sport. As we prepare to welcome 7.8 million travellers during the summer season, from July through September, Airport Workers Day serves as a fitting platform to recognize the contributions of our airport community and the work they accomplish every day to safely and efficiently move what matters and enable YVR to serve our community and the economy that supports it.
