YVR expects to welcome 1.1 million travellers during B.C’s Spring Break period

Spring Break is scheduled for most B.C. students from March 18 through April 2, which also includes the Easter weekend. YVR expects to see an increase in travel during this period, with approximately 1.1 million passengers projected to pass through the airport. This represents a four per cent increase compared to passenger levels seen in 2019 during that same period.

From March 18 to April 2, we are expecting an average of 68,628 passengers per day and a total of 9,138 arriving and departing flights. The busiest days are anticipated to be Wednesday, March 20 with approximately 72,000 passengers and Monday, April 1 with approximately 71,000 passengers.

The most popular Spring Break destinations are:

  •  Domestic: Toronto (YYZ), Calgary (YYC), Edmonton (YEG)
  •  U.S.: Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO), Las Vegas (LAS), Honolulu (HNL)
  • International: Hong Kong (HKG), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), Cancun (CUN), Tokyo (NRT), London (LHR)

YVR continues to focus on our enhanced operational plans to deliver the best possible experience for passengers and our community. This includes increased support for passengers during peak travel times. Our Guest Experience team and Green Coat volunteers can be found at Information Counters and throughout the airport, including along our curb to answer questions and help travellers of all abilities get on their way.

In addition, we have multiple digital tools available to help streamline the airport journey:

To use YVR TimeLine, simply scan the QR code located throughout security screening lanes and enter your flight number.
