What can families bring through airport security?

Flying with children comes with a slightly different set of security considerations. To avoid delays in the security screening line, make sure to check in advance what restrictions apply to the contents of your family-focused carry-on baggage.

Certain liquids over 100 mL

If you’re travelling with a child under two years old, you can bring more than 100 mL of certain liquids and gels such as baby food, milk, liquid formula, water, juice, and breast milk. Ice packs to keep them cool are also approved.

You can bring breast milk even if you aren’t travelling with the child it is intended for.

Powders

Snacks for the plane

Worried about keeping your kids fuelled with healthy food while on the go? It’s fine to bring fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, cheese, or sandwiches on the plane. If you’re travelling to an international destination, just make sure to either eat or dispose of any organic materials before you pass through customs.

Toys

In general, it’s completely fine to pack children’s toys. Avoid any toys that look like weapons (such as water guns) and toys that contain more than 350 g of powder or granular materials like glass beads, poly-pellets, sand, or pebbles.
