Vancouver Airport Authority Welcomes Peter Blake as Board Chair Following Planned Leadership Transition

Today, Vancouver Airport Authority announced the election of accomplished British Columbia business leader, Peter Blake, as Chair of its Board of Directors. Blake succeeds Annalisa King, upon the end of her term, whose guidance saw Vancouver International Airport (YVR) through a notable period of record passenger growth and cargo volumes, amidst sustained post-pandemic recovery.

“Peter has a strong background in governance and executive-level finance and strategy, and I am pleased that he will be lending that expertise to our organization as Chair,” said Tamara Vrooman, President & CEO of Vancouver International Airport. “Peter’s strategic leadership will serve YVR well as we look to the future with a focus on increased trade and global connectivity.”

Blake is an experienced director with a notable resume spanning a more than 40-year career. He spent more than a decade as CEO of Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Inc. after serving as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. Part of the Vancouver Airport Authority Board of Directors since 2024, Blake’s extensive governance experience includes chairing the Board’s Audit and Finance Committee. Outside of YVR, Blake has a variety of Board experience including FortisBC and Toromont Industries Ltd., as well as community organizations such as Adam’s Apples Foundation, BCIT Foundation, and the BC Women’s Hospital Foundation.

Outgoing Board Chair, Annalisa King, joined the Airport Authority Board in 2015 and has served as Chair since 2019.

“On behalf of YVR, I am proud to acknowledge Annalisa for her leadership and contributions,” added Vrooman. “Annalisa presided over a period of incredible growth with YVR delivering significant achievements across operations. YVR is stronger thanks to her presence.”

During her tenure, YVR achieved several significant milestones. These include being on track to become net zero in our operations by 2030, delivering a number of Canadian first innovations such as biometric boarding, and holding the title of Skytrax Best Airport in North America for a record 15 years.

“Serving YVR and contributing to an organization that connects our community to the world has been a great privilege,” said Annalisa King, outgoing Chair of Vancouver Airport Authority’s Board of Directors. “I am deeply proud of what YVR has accomplished during my time and look forward to the airport’s continued success with leadership that prioritizes integrity, resilience, innovation, and foresight.”

YVR is coming off a record year in 2025 with 26.9 million passengers travelling through the airport and the movement of 365,000 tonnes of cargo, up 7.4 per cent from 2024. YVR remains focused on growing its role in support of increased trade, connectivity, and enabling B.C.’s economy. This organized transition in Board leadership reflects the Airport Authority’s established corporate practices and commitment to strong governance, continuity, and responsible oversight. The organization’s strategy, priorities, and day‑to‑day operations continue as planned.
