Long Weekend Travel Resources

With over 292,000 passengers projected to travel through YVR over Easter long weekend, we are sharing resources to make your journey through the airport as seamless as possible.

Plan ahead

Check that you have all required travel documents for your destination, and all documents are up to date and valid.

Be sure to get latest flight information with your airline and check-in online before coming to the airport.

Have a parking plan! If you are driving to YVR, be sure to pre-book your spot before your trip in our Parkade, JetSet YVR Parking, or Value Long Term lots at yvr.ca/parking. Otherwise, consider taking the Canada Line as it can get you from Downtown Vancouver to the airport in less than 30 minutes.

Pack smart

Don’t forget to follow all Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) baggage requirements. Remember: liquids, gels and aerosols need to be in containers that are less than 100 milliliters and be packaged into one transparent, closed, and resealable plastic bag that is under one litre.

Arrive early

YVR strongly encourages all travellers to arrive at the airport early — at least two hours ahead of domestic flights and at least three hours ahead of U.S. and international flights.

This will ensure you can check-in with your airline and drop your bags, if needed, and move through security screening with enough time to shop, dine and relax before you board your flight.

Use our travel tech

  • YVR EXPRESS - Passengers departing on select flights can pre-book security up to 72 hours in advance with YVR EXPRESS. For more information about booking please click here.
  • Mobile Passport Control – If you’re flying to the U.S, submit your US CBP declaration through the MPC app to streamline your journey. More information can be found here.
  • Passenger Journey Tool – This tool outlines step-by-step guides to navigate the airport. You can access it by finding your departing flight information on YVR’s departures page and clicking “View Your Journey”.
  • ArriveCan - For those arriving from an international destination, use the ArriveCAN app to submit an advance declaration to save time when clearing Customs & Immigration. More information about ArriveCAN can be found here.
  • YVR TimeLine – This is a new digital tool designed to support you with reaching your gate on time. To use YVR TimeLine, simply scan the QR code located throughout security screening lanes and enter your flight number. The system will determine if you are at risk of missing your flight and provide instructions to assist you.

Picking up someone arriving from a Canadian destination?

The pickup area for travellers arriving from a Canadian destination is currently located on Level 1 of Domestic Arrivals.

The location for taxi and rideshare pickup for domestic travellers is on Level 2 of Domestic Arrivals.

Signage has been updated in the terminal and along our curb. Please drive with caution and obey all traffic signs and traffic management staff. And, use our Cellphone Waiting Area before proceeding to the applicable area when your party is ready.

Shop, dine and relax

After screening enjoy the delicious food or shopping options and relax. From 170 different shops, services and restaurants to our YVR Ambassador Dogs, there are so many reasons to make sure you arrive early and give yourself time to enjoy all the airport has to offer.

Have more questions?

Keep an eye out for our YVR Guest Experience team or Green Coat volunteers. Team members are stationed all the way from the curb, through the terminal and at Information Counters and are ready to answer any questions you might have. Wave hello to our new Curbside Ambassadors when you arrive!
