Thanks to all for another successful YVR-Quest Hamper Drive!

For the 13th year in a row, YVR’s annual Hamper Drive in partnership with Quest was a massive success. “Food is an important and integral part of our cultures and our communities, and I am continually inspired by the generosity and efforts of our employees, partners and the public in giving back to the community. The work we do together to support Quest’s goals continues to make a positive difference in the lives of so many British Columbians this holiday season”, says Tamara Vrooman, President and CEO, Vancouver Airport Authority. Bringing these two families together is something that both YVR and Quest look forward to each year.

The goal for this year was to fill 1,500 hampers and we exceeded this by filling 1,611 hampers! Thanks to everyone who donated, we are able to feed over 9,000 individuals and families in B.C. “We are all facing increased economic barriers, and those who come to Quest need access to healthy affordable food, that they get to choose. At Quest, we are all about using what we have, and this year’s Hamper Drive was a great reflection of this”, says Theo Lamb, Executive Director, Quest.

Rick Lupus can speak firsthand to the amazing efforts of Quest Outreach Society. Rick’s journey with Quest started out as a client, coming to the Quest markets for support and healthy food. The team at Quest noticed Rick, and suggested he volunteer for their markets. Rick was dedicated to this role and was eventually hired and was recently promoted to the role of Market Manager, Quest.

“What Quest means to me is hope. You can’t live without hope and Quest provided that for me”, says Rick Lupus, Market Manager, Quest. “Quest gave me the opportunity to work for myself, and to show up for others. I get coached along the way, with lots of guidance and it’s really beautiful. Thanks to Quest, I can put food on my table today.”

This year, the holiday hampers included meal essentials and festive favourites to create a holiday meal to feed up to six family members, or smaller families multiple times. Additionally, for the first time we partnered with chef and food writer Emily Lycopulus, author of Cedar and Salt to create unique recipes to help guide recipients on how to use and reuse the ingredients in the hamper.

Now more than ever, it is so important to come together as a community and spread some good holiday cheer. If you missed attending the Hamper Drive, you can still join the spirit of giving.

We are continuing to match donations until the end of the month. Click here to learn more and donate.
