Security screening upgrades coming to YVR

Your bags are packed. You’re ready to go. But not before you clear security screening.

YVR is continually exploring ways to improve the travel experience, including streamlining the security screening process. That’s why we have worked with the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) to install modern equipment and technology at most security checkpoints at YVR.

The latest checkpoint to undergo renovations for the enhanced security screening facilities and equipment is in our domestic Terminal.

Beginning January 16, the checkpoint at Pier C in our domestic terminal will be closed to accommodate this renovation work. Passengers travelling within Canada will be directed to the checkpoint at the AB Pier or to Checkpoint 3 near the exit and entrance to the Canada Line. Please follow signs in terminal or speak with one of our Guest Experience team members to find the nearest checkpoint.

Once complete, the new facility will include five high-efficiency screening lanes with new CATSA Plus equipment, increasing security screening capacity at this checkpoint by approximately 40 per cent – meaning more passengers will clear security screening per hour, elevating the passenger experience and supporting continued growth at YVR for the benefit of our community and the economy that supports it.

This is the third of four security screening checkpoints at YVR to undergo renovations that will include the newest CATSA screening equipment.
