No anticipated passenger impacts at YVR as B.C. transitions to permanent daylight savings time
On November 1, B.C. residents will transition to year-round daylight savings time instead of “falling back” an hour as we previously would. We have worked closely with our airline partners to support the transition and ensure smooth operations for passengers travelling through YVR.
Any passengers impacted by adjusted flight times will already see those times reflected in their travel information. No further action is required.
Will the time change impact flights at YVR?
No, we are not anticipating any issues related to B.C.’s time zone change.
With B.C. remaining on daylight saving time year-round, airlines have adjusted their winter flight schedules, particularly for routes connecting Vancouver with destinations that continue to change their clocks seasonally.
The majority of flights arriving from or departing to destinations outside B.C. have seen schedule adjustments of approximately one hour compared with last winter to accommodate the new time zone orientation. Those new flight times are already reflected in passenger itineraries.
How will passengers know if flight times have changed?
Airlines are responsible for managing their schedules and communicating any changes directly to passengers, which they have done over the past few months. As always, we encourage travellers to confirm their flight details directly with their airline or at yvr.ca before coming to the airport.
