Meet 2022 Mary B. Jordan Scholarship Award Winner, Mahta Amanian

Mahta Amanian

In recognition of former YVR Board of Directors Chair Mary B. Jordan’s significant contributions to the airport community, YVR awards the $20,000 Mary B. Jordan Scholarship each year. This scholarship is given to a student who identifies as a woman and demonstrates outstanding academic achievement, as well as a passion for diversity, inclusion, and community participation. In 2022, YVR was pleased to award Mahta Amanian the Mary B. Jordan Scholarship to support her studies in the Master of Management (MM) program at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business.

“Receiving the Mary B. Jordan YVR Scholarship for Women in Business was a transformative experience that empowered me to pursue my next academic journey of studying the Master of Management (MM) at the University of British Columbia (UBC) Sauder School of Business. During my studies, I was able to continue volunteering with several organizations, including the hospital, teaching science lessons to elementary school students, and consulting for a community business project. My volunteering experiences and academic journey in the MM program have further taught me the vitality of celebrating diversity and inclusion, fundamental principles that I will aim to exemplify in myself and others.

The MM program at UBC Sauder equipped me with new skills and business acumen that I can merge with my scientific background to be a leader in my field. With a passion for healthcare, I am eager to apply my knowledge and expertise to enhance healthcare delivery. By advocating for patient needs, integrating innovation, and optimizing hospital capacity, I aspire to collaborate with others in the pursuit of an accessible and equitable healthcare system. Furthermore, I am excited to continue mentoring young students and women, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion in their academic and personal journeys. Being awarded this scholarship has been an immense honour and privilege, and I am deeply grateful for the invaluable opportunities it has provided me.”

The Mary B. Jordan YVR Scholarship for Women in Business is a $20,000 scholarship awarded to one woman pursuing a Business Master’s degree whom has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, and a passion for diversity, inclusion and community participation.
