YVR welcomes JetBlue's inaugural flight from JFK

The nonstop flight from New York City marks the airline’s entrance to the Canadian market and makes Vancouver the first city in the country to serve this leading U.S. carrier.

“We are thrilled to welcome JetBlue to YVR and are proud to make Vancouver the airline’s first Canadian destination in its growing North American network,” said Russell Atkinson, Director, Air Service Development at Vancouver Airport Authority. “JetBlue brings another direct link between Vancouver and New York City. The new nonstop service to JFK is an important connection between our two regions for both business and leisure travel, further strengthening YVR’s position as a diverse hub and directly benefiting our community and the economy that supports it.”

JetBlue’s new service will generate approximately $7.5 million in combined Gross Domestic Product, $5.1 million in tourism spending and an additional 100 jobs at YVR and across B.C.’s hotel, restaurants and tourist attractions. The scheduled service will operate daily. “The addition of Vancouver to our route map marks an important milestone for JetBlue and we are the only airline offering nonstop service to Vancouver from New York’s JFK,” said Andrea Lusso, Vice President of Network Planning, JetBlue. “We look forward to introducing our outstanding service at competitive fares to Canadian customers.” An Airbus 320 aircraft will operate the route, with seat capacity for 162 passengers. This is a part of JetBlue’s transcontinental growth strategy and introduces the airline’s award-winning service and low fares to new customers in Canada.
