YVR streamlines arrivals process for international passengers across Canada

In the past travellers had to fill out their full customs declaration either on-paper or at the kiosk upon arrival. With the latest Primary Inspection Kiosk (PIK) innovation, travellers now have the option of completing their advanced declaration up to 72 hours prior to arrival through the ArriveCAN mobile app or website. This means that travellers don’t need to answer all the questions on the kiosk, they simply verify their identity and move onto the next step in the arrivals process. This accessible and inclusive technology also helps passengers who are not familiar with using the PIK machines upon arrival have their friends or family help them fill out the declaration in advance of their travel.

At YVR, we have a long history of innovation. We have made a global impact through the release of various self-service border control technologies, helping more than 250 million passengers safely and efficiently clear the border. With the advancements in the PIK technology, we are continuing to take innovation in aviation to the next level!

The journey continues…

After successfully implementing this innovative technology at YVR, we are now going beyond to other airports across Canada including our customers at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, and soon Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson Airport and Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport.

We’re proud to be part of another great joint effort with our partners and colleagues to support passengers as they travel through airports across the country safely and efficiently, and we are doing this one innovation at a time.
