With cups of matcha tea in hand, representatives from ZIPAIR, the Japanese consulate and YVR exchanged Japanese greetings of “ohayoo gozaimasu” which translates to “good morning” to celebrate ZIPAIR’s first-ever flight from Tokyo Narita (NRT).

ZIPAIR will fly between YVR and NRT three times per week. Service will increase to five times per week starting July 23, 2024 due to high demand.

The captain of the aircraft for today’s inaugural, Shingo Hotta spoke at the event and remarked that this first flight was very meaningful to him as he conducted his flight training in Maple Ridge, B.C.

This new service marks ZIPAIR’s first and only non-stop service to Canada. The route will be serviced by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and offers 290 seats - 18 full-flat premium cabin seats and 272 economy class seats.

Every new flight to YVR creates economic activity and jobs for our region. The new service to Narita International is expected to generate $16.9 million in economic output, $9 million in GDP, and 115 full time jobs in the province.

By the end of March, ZIPAIR will be flying between Vancouver and Tokyo three days per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Starting July 23^rd, ZIPAIR will expand scheduled service to five days per week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
