The store’s layout mirrors the flow of a mountain cabin, creating a natural walkthrough experience. Travellers move from a bedroominspired space featuring gifts and wellness products, into a livingroomstyle area showcasing souvenirs and electronics, and finish in a kitchenstyle section offering gourmet grabandgo snacks and beverages. 

Fun finds and meaningful purchases 

For something playful or unexpected, Dank Mart’s novelty and international candy selection has quickly become a traveller favourite. You’ll also find Six Hats Supply Co. products, where every purchase helps provide clean drinking water — making it easy to shop with purpose. 

Thoughtfully designed with sustainability in mind 

Sustainability was a key consideration in the design of Alpine Loft. From wooden hangers and signage to cardboard and cornstarch‑based staff tools, the space minimizes waste wherever possible. The store also partnered with Vancouver‑based ChopValue to incorporate recycled materials, including paper‑only recycling bins. Product choices reflect the same values, with brands like Billy Would repurposing reclaimed skate decks into jewellery and accessories. 

As Canada’s Pacific gateway, YVR connects people and communities to the world. Alpine Loft is part of that journey — giving travellers the opportunity to take a meaningful piece of Canada with them while celebrating the spirit, creativity, and innovation of British Columbia. 

Paying tribute to its location on the 49th parallel, with an aviation-themed design, the space reflects the excitement of travel and the spirit of connection. The menu showcases the best of West Coast cuisine, with chef-driven dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Highlights include the Pork Belly Bao, Chicken and Mushroom Pappardelle, and Thai Noodle Salad. Passengers can pair their meal with signature handcrafted cocktails featuring local spirits from Resurrection Spirits and Empress Gin, or enjoy local brews on tap from Stanley Park Brewing, including the YVR-exclusive Wheels Up IPA, Superflux Beer Company, and Wayback Brew Co. A selection of BC wines is also available by the glass.

The newly renovated Vancouver Duty Free at YVR, which has expanded by 7,000 square feet to 30,000 square feet, spans two walkthrough locations post-security in International departures. The space features a mix of global luxury brands and local B.C. favourites, creating a unique sense of place and ensuring products for every kind of traveller as they make their way through security screening and onward to their gate.

Vancouver Duty Free is operated by Dufry, an Avolta company, and offers several brands at its YVR location that are not available at its other shops, making them exclusive to YVR within Dufry-operated duty-free stores. Brands include renowned names such as Charlotte Tilbury, NARS and fragrances by Byredo and Penhaligon via the first Haute Parfumerie.  

The new Vancouver Duty Free also offers a tasting bar showcasing Canadian-only whiskies as well as notable products from B.C wineries and distilleries, Mission Hill and Empress.
