Expanding YVR's TAKEcare Health and Safety Program

Hygiena unit

At YVR, we are working closely with our partners to constantly improve the airport experience and address the many challenges of COVID-19. This includes creating and launching TAKEcare, an industry-leading health and safety program to help people move through the airport safely and with confidence.

As part of TAKEcare, we recently introduced a number of new measures, including:

  • Deploying multiple Hygiena cleaning units throughout the airport. These units provide rapid and accurate microbial detection and sanitation verification.
  • Using UV technology to detect cleanliness of surfaces and clean high-touch areas such as escalator handrails.
  • Adding autonomous cleaning devices to clean our floors.

In addition, effective July 30, 2020, Transport Canada is requiring the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) to conduct temperature screening at all passenger and employee security screening checkpoints at Canada’s four largest airports: Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.

Temperature screening adds another layer of protection to the comprehensive measures already in place at YVR and we believe the multi-layered approach of our TAKEcare program will help ensure a safe and healthy travel experience.

We will continue to improve and expand our TAKEcare program, in close collaboration with our partners, to continue to help lead the airport and our industry forward.
